February 26, 2006 “Stephen Crane: His Life & Times” UUFSC member Peter Osborne presents a slide show looking at the life of Stephen Crane, especially in the context of the Tri-State region.

March 12, 2006 “Bertrand Russell: His Life, Work and Influence” John Lenz, past president of the Bertrand Russell Society which is housed in Madison, New Jersey.

April 9, 2006 “Charles Dickens and Unitarianism” Michael Timko, who is well versed in Unitarian Universalist history and lore, will speak to the fellowship on the relationship of this famous author and social reformer to the Unitarianism of his time in Victorian England.

April 23, 2006 “Story of Service and Hope” UUFSC member Sally Sattin, who recently visited this village, will share what she learned about the accomplishments of the Kopeyia Ghana School Fund. In addition, she will describe the spiritual and daily life of the villagers within the context of the larger picture of Ghana in particular and Africa in general.

April 30, 2006 Kathy Moser, songwriter, singer and Unitarian Universalist, will grace our hall with her program entitled “Celebrating the Seventh Principle.” We will join in meditation, music and dialogue with Ms. Moser on the UU “respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are all a part” - a timely topic with the proximity of Earth Day!

May 14, 2006 “Strength Without Violence” Dr. Anthony Balzano from Sussex CCC will talk about a Mother's Day advertisement designed to raise awareness about domestic violence.

May 28, 2006 "Readings" Members of the congregation are encouraged to bring a reading on any topic or in any form to this meeting. Each person will read a selection of 4-5 minutes -- it can be something original by the reader or from another author. As appropriate, discussion will follow each reading.

October 1, 2006 "Coming around the Corner/Code Blue/Code 40" -- Many of you have asked about my new job. So, what is it like to work in the most famous hospital in New Jersey? What is it like to be the one visitor (not related to a patient) who isn't going to do anything to you or take anything from you? Today, Rev. Newhall will share some of her impressions of life as a hospital chaplain.

October 8, 2006 “Nativism, Then, There and Here”
We will review the history of nativist activity in the US over the years from 1820 on, in general terms and from text. Then we will view about 18 minutes of the program In the Shadow of Hate, produced by the “Teaching Tolerance” group of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which will “flesh out” the general history reviewed at the beginning of the program. Finally, we will review how this background relates to the recent effort by the Newton town council to make Newton “English only” and stringent with immigrants.
